B@tCH this week
Pot banging, knees under the table, big mac burgers, sibling rivalry. What can all this mean? Come to B@tCH on Sunday and find out.
Starting ; Back end of the hall breakfast 8 25am and front end breakfast at 8 52 am
Then off to vote whether to ask Geoffrey Skilton to be part of the Ministry team on the Highgate. Over the road at 9 45.
Packing up the hall
To be perfectly honest I’m not sure how to make that work. The war gamers are in this week and we need to be out by 10 20am.
I will aim to finish early and then all hands on deck for 5 minutes clearing as much as possible then a crew comes back at 10 10 am to finish, Any brighter ideas welcomed.
What’s important however is being part of the future of Highgate.
Helping this week. Kerry, Frances, The Linscotts in various ways, Sandy and the set up team, Patricia and the Kelks in the Kitchen.
In from Sue
As well as a shortage of sugar and children’s lunchbox items coinciding with the new school term, there is a real need for children’s shoes (preschooler up to the age of about 10) in reasonable/good second-hand condition. Many thanks. Cheers, Sue
In from the Highgate Eldership
Barry first however. At B@tCH we talk membership language around ‘belonging’ . The National church also uses language like this. I am fine with that sort of language in our context. There are times however when the Presbyterian Church defaults to what has been for years and votes are such times. The language is actually not broken and helps us to see how we fit with the bigger picture. It makes no difference to how you vote. Times like this also serve as a good time to get its statistics in order and so you will be asked into what category you BELONG. The elders have sent the following definitions. Any questions email me by return. I’m not on the phone easily till Saturday night but a call the at home is great too.
In the Presbyterian Church we have two categories of Membership, Associate member and member, both equally important.
Definitions:
Member: One who has received baptism, publicly professed their faith in Jesus Christ and will seek to lead a life consistent with their profession of faith.
Will unite in worship, life and vision of the congregation and support as far as possible the work of the congregation.
Accept the discipline of the Church and accept spiritual oversight.
Associate Member: One who expresses an intention to associate with the congregation, is active in the worship, life and mission of the congregation and seeks to lead a life consistent with the Christian Faith. Or one who fulfils the conditions for membership as set out but does not wish to be a member.
See you Sunday Pastor Barry
